Claire (Hackett) Priebe

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Claire (Hackett) Priebe, 73, of Eldorado, passed away at Friday, Oct. 8, 2010, at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale.

The family appreciates all of the prayers and best wishes that were offered during this difficult past month.

For nearly 50 years, Claire was married to Patrick Priebe, who survives. They were wed on June 24, 1961, at St. Brigid&#39;s Church in Detroit, Mich.

Named after her aunt and uncle, "Claire Lee" was born in Detroit on Aug. 9, 1937, the daughter of the late Bernard A. and Eva Jennette (Maxfield) Hackett.

She was a member of St. Mary&#39;s Church of Eldorado, where she was a past member of the St. Mary&#39;s Altar Society. She was previously a member of St. Joseph&#39;s Church in Marion during the time the family lived there.

Claire graduated from Mercy High School in Detroit in 1955. She attended Marquette University and graduated from the University of Detroit in 1959.

She was employed as a primary school teacher in Detroit and Garden City public schools until she married. She worked as a homemaker and enjoyed volunteering for the Southern Illinois University Newman Center, supporting the Eldorado Memorial Library, and attending Golden Circle committee meetings.

Claire will be remembered for her truly loving heart and her incomparable goodness.

In addition to her husband, Claire is survived by her daughter, Jeanette Mihalec of Elgin; and her two sons, Edmund (Sue) Priebe of Shiloh and Jack Priebe of Wakefield, Mass. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Tyler Martin, Austin Priebe, Alexa Mihalec, Josef Mihalec, Jordyn Priebe, and Madisyn Priebe; her adopted brother, (cousin) Joseph (Jean) Juett of Michigan; her brother-in-law, John Priebe of Florida; beloved Juett and Roesner cousins, "like a daughter" Michelle Duncan; and many loving friends.

She was preceded in death by her birth parents; her adopted mother, (aunt) Claire Juett, uncle, J. Lee Hackett; aunt, Marie Hackett; sister, Carole Hackett; and daughter, Marcie Priebe.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 12, 2010, at St. Mary&#39;s Catholic Church in Eldorado with Fr. Ignatius Okonkwo officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary&#39;s Cemetery. Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 11, 2010, at Colonial Terrace Funeral Home with prayer service at 7 p.m.
