Eldorado Garden Study Club donates Illinois bicentennial flag to library

ELDORADO - On Oct. 18, the Eldorado Garden Study Club met at the Eldorado Memorial Library to raise the Illinois Bicentennial flag donated by the club to the library.

Special guests included Eldorado Mayor Rocky James and Library Assistant Director Miriam Richardson. Susan Justice, club member and library board member, served as master of ceremonies and provided some historical highlights of Illinois. After the flag raising, the group then walked and viewed the nearby Avenue of Honor, which was created by the club to honor members of the armed services serving during our country's military conflicts and wars, as well as those serving in times of peace. Liz Garrett shared with the group the history of the establishment of the memorial by the club in 2007.
