Chester man killed in single-vehicle accident
<span style="font-weight: 400;">A 36-year-old Chester man, Travis C. Green, was killed in a single-vehicle accident early Saturday morning on northbound Interstate 55 near mile marker 140.</span>
<span style="font-weight: 400;">According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 25-year-old Takara B. Woods, of Cape Girardeau, Mo., was driving a 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee north on the interstate when, for an unknown reason, it left the left side of roadway.</span>
<span style="font-weight: 400;">The vehicle struck the ground and then became airborne before crashing. Green was pronounced dead on scene by responding paramedics, while Woods was airlifted to Barnes-Jewish Hospital in serious condition.</span>
<span style="font-weight: 400;">The accident was reported at 2:15 a.m. Woods was wearing her seatbelt, while Green - who was a passenger in the vehicle - was not.</span>
