Ted Price
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Ted Price, local historian and businessman went to be with the Lord, and to be reunited with his beloved wife, Marie, on Tuesday, March 1, 2011. He died peacefully with his family and friends around him.
He was born on Dec. 4, 1915, to Charles L. Price and Ella Mae (Morris) Price. On April 29, 1937, he married Marie (Walker) Price who preceded him in death on Oct. 2, 2007.
He started his business venture in 1935 and it is still an active business today. He was a trucker, as well as a building contractor, raising houses, moving houses and concrete and masonry work. He also had many thoroughbred race horses throughout the years, along with starting gates, racing at the county fairs mostly. He really loved it. He was well known for his accounts of the Charlie Birger Gang and the Shelton gang during the Prohibition days. He could tell stories of his younger years, traveling (riding the rails) with his lifelong buddy Robert Yates that would keep you glued to his renditions for hours on end. Until late in life he was an avid fisherman, with his "ole buddy." He continued to drive a dump truck, hauling dirt and rock until about two months prior to his death.
He is survived by a brother, Chalky (Vivian) Price; his children, Teddy Ray (LeeAnna) Price and Linda Kay Rice; 10 grandchildren, Christopher Lee Price, Teddi Lee (Lanny) Sumner, Deborah (Mark) Cooper, Terri Price, Anna Marie Price, Teddy Ray "T.R." Price II, Tena (Russ) Barton, Phillip (Donna) Rice, Shane Mugge and Tami Griffin; 22 great-grandchildren, nine great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife; his parents; a daughter, Judy Marie Price; a son, Dennis Lee Price; five sisters, Effie Elizabeth Engleby, Ethel Marie Doolin, Essie Josephine Womack, Hazel Price and Helen Lucille (Price) Reeves; and one brother, Odel Price.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, March 4, 2011, at Reed Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Teddy Ray Price will officiate. Burial will follow in Sunset Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 3, 2011, at Reed Funeral Chapel.
