Prep Soccer: Offensive output propels Bulldogs

The Harrisburg High School boys' soccer team capitalized with three second half goals in knocking off South Knox, Indiana 8-3 Saturday at Michael Herrin Field.

The win moves Harrisburg to 5-2 on the year as Cody Morris had a four-goal game with one assist for the Bulldogs.

Braden McConnell got Harrisburg on the board early in the first half with a goal and that was followed by back-to-back goals by Morris. Morris had six shots on goal Saturday.

Anfernee Houston and Sam Rodgers had goals in the first half as Harrisburg built a 5-0 lead before South Knox got two goals late in the first half.

Morris had two more goals in the second half and Rodgers finished with one as Ryan Cowsert picked up the win in goal, making six saves.

Harrisburg put up 18 shots on goal on a day when Harrisburg head coach Mike Stewart applauded his offense for moving the ball around the field with precise passing that connected to runs.

"Our offense did a great job of shutting down the Spartans outside attacks, as well as, clearing the ball of the middle when the attack would take place.

"I think I have finally found the formation we are going to go with," Stewart said. "It takes awhile to work the bugs out, but I think we are finally there. We were having a little trouble finding the right midfield combination, but after the changes we made for the last two games, I think we have found what it going to work."
