Lorraine Maple
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Lorraine Maple, 88, of Galatia, passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 15, 2010, at her home.
She was born Alice Lorraine Price on Oct. 27, 1921, in Benton to the late George Ralph Price and Clara Jones Price. She married Stanley Maple on Dec. 28, 1940. He preceded her in death on March 4, 1989.
A graduate of Galatia High School with the class of 1940, she returned to school in 1963, following her husband's retirement from the Air Force. After graduating from the Practical Nursing program at Southeastern Illinois College, she worked many years as a licensed practical nurse at Harrisburg Hospital, Doctors' Hospital (now Harrisburg Medical Center) and in the office of Dr. Harold Elliott.
She was a member of Long Branch Baptist Church. She was a 50-plus year member of the Egyptian White Shrine, as well as a long time member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed many interests throughout her life, but her family was, without a doubt, the greatest joy of her life.
She is survived by a daughter, Dawn Dudley and husband David of Galatia; three grandchildren, Shannon Dudley of Galatia, Allison McCabe and husband Bryan of Harrisburg and Matthew Dudley of Galatia; and one great-granddaughter, Hollyn Lorraine McCabe.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 18, 2010, at Sloan Funeral Home in Galatia with the Rev. Kevin Peyton officiating. Burial will be at Masonic and Oddfellow Cemetery in Benton. Visitation is 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 17, 2010, at the funeral home.
