Prep Golf: Solid & Steady

The Eldorado High School girls' soccer team shot a 163, finishing second at the Anna-Jonesboro Invite Wednesday at the Union County Country Club.

Massac County took the top spot, finishing with a 160, while Herrin was third with a 164. Marion finished fourth, firing a 188 and Carterville rounded out the top five with 189.

Carmi-White County was sixth with a 190, while Pinckneyville carded a team total of 205, Goreville was eighth with a 213 and Anna-Jonesboro (220) and Stelleville (253) completed the field.

For the Eagles, Taylor Goodley placed third overall, firing a 36, while twin sister Ashton was fourth after shooting a 38. Taylor Aldridge placed fired her lowest round of the year, a 41 and took sixth after winning a chip off. Sydney Tate finished with a 48 for Eldorado.

"The girls played a solid round and are staying very consistent, which is great to see," Eldorado head coach Greg Goodley said. "We have some things to work on and the girls are striving to shoot better every time out. When we put it all together on the same day we can shoot a really great score."

Eldorado boys finish second

Harrisburg shot a team low 153, while Ben Fowler took medalist honors as the Bulldogs knocked off Eldorado (194) and Hardin County (213) Wednesday in prep boys golf action.

Braydon Van Zant shot a 43 for the Eagles and that was followed by Josh Rice's 46. Jack Mings carded a 50 and John Amberger finished with a 53.
