Charles A. 'Charlie' Rude

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Charles A. "Charlie" Rude, 81, of Lake Geneva, Wis., passed away Wednesday, March 11, 2009, at Geneva Lake Manor Nursing Home.

Charlie was born on June 27, 1927, in Harrisburg, and was adopted and raised by his Uncle Mac Rude. He married Myra Maxine Render on May 4, 1952, in Harrisburg.

Charlie and his family moved to Lake Geneva, Wis., in 1962 where he served the community in a variety of public service roles including the public library, police and fire commission, as alderman for the First Ward and as mayor of Lake Geneva from 2001 to 2004. Charlie was a member of the United Methodist Church in Lake Geneva and served on various boards and committees throughout the years.

He was a member of Geneva Lodge No. 44 A.F. and A.M. He served in the U.S. Army near the end of World War II at several posts, concluding his service at Ft. Mead in Maryland. After the Army, Charlie graduated from the University of Illinois with a degree in business administration. His career spanned many decades working in both the private and government sectors in personnel and labor relations.

Surviving are his wife, Maxine; daughter, Lisa of Antioch; and son, Eric (Sara) of Elkhorn, Wis. He has two grandchildren, Charles David and Molly Anne.

Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Monday, March 16, 2009, at the United Methodist Church in Lake Geneva with Pastor Keith Aurand officiating. Visitation was held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Monday, March 16, 2009, at Haase-Derrick-Lockwood Funeral Home, 800 Park Dr., Lake Geneva, Wis. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in Charlie's name to Geneva Lake Manor Nursing Home in Lake Geneva, Wis. or to the Lake Geneva United Methodist Church Scholarship Fund.
