VOLLEYBALL: Pinckneyville 4th at Marissa Tournament

After going 3-0 in pool play at last week's Marissa Tournament, Pinckneyville met their match in championship pool action on Friday, falling to Gibault (Waterloo) and Red Bed in straight sets to finish the event in fourth place.

The Lady Hawks knocked off the Lady Panthers 21-18, 21-12 in the semifinals, the Lady Musketeers won the third place game 21-12, 21-17.

PCHS's kill leaders for the week included Sophie Keith, Emma Banach, Kylie Kling and Keeley Grey. Mayci Doerflein led the team in assists for the event, and was named to the All-Tournament Team for her efforts. Mady Epplin finished the tournament as Pinckneyville's leader in digs.

The Lady Panthers (5-6) travel to West Frankfort on Thursday night, then play in the Benton Tournament on Saturday.
