Kiwanis Mr. & Miss Peanut Pageant is Saturday
The Kiwanis of Harrisburg is hosting a Mr. & Miss Peanut Pageant to benefit CASA of Saline County Saturday.
The event will take place at the SIC Foundation building 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Judging for the photo contest will be from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. on the event day and photos and frames can be picked up between 1 p.m. and 2 p.m.
Area vendors will have tables showcasing various products and edibles for purchase. There is a $3 admission fee for adults (except the adult who is helping the child with attire) and $2 for kids the day of the pageant.
"This pageant is a little different as it focuses on a circus theme. It's going to be fun and exciting", said Trina Irwin Executive Director of CASA.
Randy Boyd and the Carrier Mills-Stonefort High School wood shop class constructed a playhouse for the big raffle item. The materials were donated by Barnes Lumber in Harrisburg. The playhouse will be 6 feet-by-6 feet and all contestants will be selling raffle tickets, 1 for $5 or 6 for $25. People may also purchase tickets from any of the Kiwanis members or CASA staff, advocates, board members and local banks. This playhouse can be viewed in the parking lot of the SIC Foundation building.
"We are very fortunate to have local organizations and businesses that will support CASA in its mission to be an advocate for abused and neglected children," said Trina Irwin, Executive Director.
Sponsors include Kiwanis, the SIC Foundation, Barnes Lumber, Randy Boyd & the Carrier Mills-Stonefort High School wood shop class, Roger Angelly Trucking and Lisa Bradley of Edward Jones.
