OBITUARY: Mildred G. Walton
Mildred G. Walton, 94 of Eldorado, left this world on Jan. 4, 2015, in Newburgh, Ind., at Signature Health Care.
Mildred was born in Dongola, Mo., Feb. 9, 1920, to the late Sherman and Cora (Benfield) Adams. Mildred was a member of Eldorado Gospel Assembly where she sang in the first choir. She was in the women's quartet along with Nell Mattingly, Mary Ruth Craig and Mae Norman.
She was over the minister's dining room and later the large dining room for many Minister Meetings and Mildred conducted prayer meetings for over 22 years.
Mildred served the Lord by teaching women's Bible classes, and working in Gospel Assemblies in several states.
Mildred was a wonderful seamstress and shared her knowledge by teaching women sewing classes.
Mildred was a minister's wife for over 45 years. She served along side of her husband the Rev. Emry Walton for over 15 years in Evansville, Ind., Anna, Tampa, Fla., and Cape Girardeau, MO.
Surviving are her four nieces: Patricia Grant of Eldorado, Zettie Shults of Eldorado, Donna Raye Phillips of Newburgh, Ind., and Cheryl Ancel of Eldon, Mo.; and a nephew, Kenneth Adams of Evansville, Ind.
Mildred was preceded in death by an infant son: Kenneth Ray Walton in 1939; three brothers: Leon Adams, Milford Adams and Vernon Adams; a niece: Jeanie Krone of Newburgh, Ind.; and a nephew, David Adams of Kankakee.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 8, 2015, at the Watson Funeral Home. Burial will be in Wolf Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be 10 a.m. Thursday until the service time of 2 p.m. at the funeral home.
