Baseball: Hawks Take Two At Rent One Park

The Gallatin County baseball team won a pair of games at Rent One Park Wednesday.<br />In the morning game, the Hawks played through a steady drizzle to beat Century 10-0 and later beat Pope County 15-5.<br />Audie Goebel got the win for Gallatin County against Century. Goebel went the distance, allowing four hits, while striking out four.<br />At the plate, Seth Ramsey, Lucas Hise and Wyatt Downen each had a pair of hits, while all drove in two and scored two runs. Aaron Walters went 2-for-3 with two runs scored. <br />In the 15-5 win over Pope County, Garrett Rushing worked two innings, picking up the win, allowing three earned runs.<br />Robbie Prince and Blake Seely each saw an inning of relief work.<br />Ramsey and Hise were both 3-for-4 at the plate as Ramsey had three runs scored and two RBI, while Hise drove in four runs and scored three runs.<br />Wyatt Downen and Robbie Prince had two hits and both finished with an RBI and a run scored. Clay Pritchard scored three runs and Goebel walked four times, while scoring three runs.<br />The experience to play at Rent One Park, home of the Southern Illinois Miners, was one that Gallatin County head coach Mark Hiller said his team would remember.<br />"It was an amazing experience and our kids absolutely loved it. We were thankful for the opportunity and had a memorable day of baseball."

<strong>Eagles fall at home to rival Hamilton County</strong><br />Eldorado had 11 hits, but fell to Hamilton County 5-3 in Black Diamond Conference action Tuesday at the EHS Sports Complex.<br />Kale Oglesby, Trey Vessell and Max Kasiar all went 2-for-4 for Eldorado, while Kasiar and Oglesby each had an RBI and Kasiar scored a run.<br />Joe Mayberry, Bryson Sigler, Ben Byrd, Jacob Traxler and Payton Price all had one hit. Byrd had an RBI for the Eagles, while Jacob Etienne and Price both scored a run.<br />Kasiar took the loss on the mound, giving up five runs (two earned) on five hits, while striking out seven and walking five. Braden Unthank worked one inning of relief work, scattering one hit and striking out one.
