EHS students recognized for test success

Illinois standardized achievement test results for Eldorado High School seniors showed great improvement this year and the school is going to give the students who met or exceeded their benchmark scores in science, math, reading or English some real tangible rewards.

Beside free Friday lunches from McDonalds, Subway and Dad's Barbeque the students will get preferred parking near the school buildings for the rest of the year.

Math teacher Cody Cusic said the scores were 11 percent meeting or exceeding state goals in math back in 2012 but 26 percent in 2014. The reading scores in 2012 were 31 percent yet in 2014 the students achieved 46 percent.

The improvement is dramatic and the school wants the students to know they are happy with them.

Today, the achievers each got to shake hands with Secretary of State Jesse White just before the Jesse White Tumblers show began.
