The Rev. Floyd Daniel Rouse

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[The Rev. Floyd Daniel Rouse 80, of North Chicago, died Thursday, Sept. 18, 2008, at the V.A. Hospital in North Chicago.

He was born Aug. 19, 1928 in Carrier Mills, to Raymond William Rouse and Zella Floyd Rouse.

In 1949 he moved to North Chicago and worked at the V.A. Hospital. As a young man he enjoyed riding motorcycles.

He was a Korean War veteran, serving with the 223rd Regiment of the 40th Infantry Division, as a Browning Automatic rifleman. He received the Good Conduct Medal, Korean Service Medal with Bronze Service Star, United Nations Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Combat Infantry Badge and Korean War Service Medal.

Floyd, known to most as Hardrock, returned to North Chicago after the war and worked at the U.S. Steel and Wire plant in Waukegan.

In the mid 1960s, Floyd accepted his calling into the ministry of God. In 1966 he was licensed to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ at Mt. Sinai Baptist Church of North Chicago. He was ordained into the Christian ministry on July 28, 1971.

Floyd married his wife Mildred on June 24, 1972. Millie, as he called her, survives. Floyd and Millie enjoyed family, church and annual trips to the Wisconsin Dells.

Floyd enjoyed fishing and aviation. He enjoyed going to airports and meeting people and watching the airplanes take off and land.

Survivors include one son, Craig (Gwen) Harrison; two daughters, Lisa Rouse Ward and Sheila Hilicard and granddaughter Latoya; brother, Raymond (Roberta) Rouse of North Chicago; three sisters, Naomi Coleman of Harrisburg, Gertrude Chavis of Carrier Mills and Mary Ellen Duley of Waukegan; also numerous nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, mother, one sister and a son.

Arrangements are being made by Bradshaw and Range Funeral Home in Waukegan. A memorial service will be 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 25, 2008, at the Mt. Sinai Baptist Church of North Chicago. Visitation is 10 to 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 26, 2008, at the Mt. Sinai Baptist Church. The service will follow the visitation. Burial will be in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Zion.
