Harrisburg beats Red Devils on links

Andrew Bittle torched Shawnee Hills Country Club with a two-over 38, a round that included an eagle on No. 3, helping lead Harrisburg to a 164-189 win over Murphysboro Tuesday afternoon.

Grant Wilson shot a 39 for the Bulldogs, while Krayton Morse fired a 41 and Evan McDermott finished with a 47 to round out the four-person scoring.

Colby Morse carded a 47 and Hayden Emery shot a 49 for Harrisburg.

Harrisburg head coach Jake Dixon said his boys are starting to turn in some consistent rounds that is equaling wins on the links

"We know when we go out there we're going to get three strong scores that will compete with anyone we'll play," Dixon said. "Andrew, Grant, and Krayton are giving us consistent 38/40's. Here lately we've had other guys step up and contribute scores that are right there with those guys. Evan McDermott has come into his own and turned in some really good scores, including a 39 last week in a quad match and Colby Morse has found consistency and helped us by finishing in the 40/42 range."

Harrisburg girls lose dual match at Marion

Madison McClusky shot a 42 and Frankie Leigh Nicholes fired a 47, but Harrisburg lost 175-201 to Marion at Kokopelli Golf Course Tuesday.

The Bulldogs got a 50 from Gracie Behnke and a 62 from Ann Marie Podoriscki, while Jaci Robinson shot a 70.

Marion's Baylee Kelley took medalist honors with a 39 and Sarah Capel was runner up with a 40.
