Eldorado, Harrisburg Rotary Clubs hold joint meeting at art museum
HARRISBURG - Members of Eldorado and Harrisburg Rotary Clubs met together Tuesday for dinner and a tour of the new Ella Elizabeth Hise Museum of Regional Art at Southeastern Illinois College.
SIC President Jonah Rice welcomed the two groups.
"This is a wonderful opportunity for both of these fine groups to spend a little time together and take in the artwork we have on display here," Rice said.
Rice also highlighted the meal, prepared by chef Michael Intravaia. Intravaia is the college's chef for dining services at the cafeteria and also operates Michael's in Johnston City.
"This is as fine a meal as you will find in southern Illinois, and we invite you to come back and dine with us at our cafeteria," Rice said.
After the meal, members of both groups viewed the gallery, which features many artists known throughout the region.
The museum was made possible by a gift from retired Air Force Col. William C. Hise and the estate of Hise's twin brother, Brig. Gen. James C. Hise to honor their sister, the museum's namesake.
The museum is open 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Friday. It is also open 1 to 4 p.m. the first Sunday of each month, meaning it will be open for viewing this coming Sunday.
