The move came eight days after his wife Linda Young's death by suicide whom he is charged with attempting to have murdered. Prosecutors say he attempted to hire an undercover police officer to arrange for his wife's death.
Law enforcement officers arrested Young on Saturday, March 31. His wife attempted suicide a week later on April 6 and lived 10 days before dying April 16 at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, Ind.
With his preliminary hearing waived, the judge set Young's jury trial for 9 a.m. July 11. A pre-trial hearing is set for 9 a.m. June 26.
If convicted this summer of the Class X felony of solicitation of murder Young faces 20 to 40 years in prison.
For now Young remains in the Saline County Detention Center on a $100,000 cash bond.
