Framingham-Worcester trains transferring to new schedule

Commuter rail passengers fed up with regular delays on the Framingham-Worcester line may soon be able to breathe a sigh of relief.

According to state Rep. Alice Peisch, a new schedule for the trains will go into effect on Tuesday, and commuters should see a significant reduction in delays along the line.

Though no additional trains will be added to the lineup, the new schedule has been altered to better accommodate "how long it actually takes a train to get from Framingham or Worcester to South Station," she said.

"A complete overhaul of the schedule had not been done since the Worcester line first opened in 1995, but the number of passengers has increased dramatically," upping the time trains have to spend at each stop, said Peisch, who has spent much of the fall and winter working with other local representatives, the MBTA and CSX, which owns the tracks, to improve service on the line.
