Rinehart completes safety seat technician training

Randolph County Sheriff Shannon Wolff has announced that Deputy Shane Rinehart has recently completed the Standardized Child Protection Safety Seat Technician Training provided by the Illinois Department of Transportation, The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and Safe Kids Worldwide.

As a Child Safety Seat Technician, Deputy Rinehart is certified to educate caregivers on the correct selection, installation, and use of car seats, booster seats, and seatbelts used by children of all ages.

"Having Deputy Rinehart certified to educate and assist caregivers with installing and using child safety seats will almost certainly help save the lives of our children if they are involved in a traffic crash," Wolff said. "Having installed my children's car seat in my personal vehicles, I know just how hard it is to get them installed properly."

"We care about the children in our communities and will continue to provide services to caregivers that will help keep kids safe," Wolff added.

The Sheriff's Office will be holding "Child Safety Seat Days" at several locations throughout Randolph County.

This program will give caregivers an opportunity to meet with Deputies and Officers to receive instructions, law updates, and information on how to properly install car seats.

"Citizens can bring their car seats with them and we will assist you with properly installing them in your vehicle," Wolff said.

The Sheriff's Office and Chester Police Department will be hosting the first "Child Safety Seat Day" on September 26 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Chester Wal-Mart. Please stop by and join us in making Randolph County a safer place for our children.
