Travis Martin Gaskins
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Travis Martin Gaskins, 27, Harrisburg, passed at 8:01 a.m. Friday, Jan. 7, 2011, at Ferrell Hospital in Eldorado.
He was born on Sept. 3, 1983, in Harrisburg to Bertis Wayne Gaskins and Rita June (Horton) Gaskins.
He was a member of Little Chapel Church and the Harrisburg Elks B.P.O.E. No. 1058. He was an avid sports fan, especially of the Harrisburg Bulldogs. He could always be spotted listening to WEBQ on his headset at the Dogs games for fear he would miss something going on in the field or on the court. If by chance, the officials made a bad call or some other mishap occurred, he was sure to call Coach Shaw after the game to make sure that he, too, was aware of the situation.
Surviving family members include his father, Wayne Gaskins of Elizabethtown; mother, Rita Gaskins of Harrisburg; two brothers, Nathan (Brandi) Gaskins of Harrisburg and Justin Gaskins of Cincinnati, Ohio; niece, Hayden Gaskins of Harrisburg; grandmother, Wilma Gaskins of Harrisburg; fiancee, Michelle York of Carmi and her parents, Rick and June; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Bert Gaskins and Fern and Clarence Horton, all of Harrisburg.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 10, 2011, at Little Chapel Church in Harrisburg with Elks Rites beginning at 11 a.m. Jeff Rush and the Rev. Dewayne Taylor will officiate. Burial will follow in Sunset Lawn Cemetery. Visitation was held from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 9, 2011, at Little Chapel Church in Harrisburg. Memorial contributions may be made to the Harrisburg Athletic Association or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Envelopes will be available at the church.
