Julia Malkovich
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Julia Malkovich 98, of Johnston City, passed at 11:40 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 10, 2008, at the Saline Care Center in Harrisburg.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 12, 2008, at the Lakeview Cemetery in Johnston City with the Rev. William Kinley officiating. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Murman and Wilson Funeral Home in Johnston City.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home or cemetery.
Julia was born on May 7, 1910, in Muddy, the daughter of John and Antonia (Udovic) Stare. She married Mike Malkovich on May 7, 1931 in Marion. He preceded her in death on April 12, 1999.
Julia and Mike owned and operated Malkovich Grocery on West 5th Street until their retirement in 1972. Many remember them for their humanitarian efforts as good neighbors.
Julia is survived by three daughters, Shirley Galli (Norman) and Martha Galli (Jack) of West Frankfort and Karen McClusky of Harrisburg; six grandchildren, Bryan Galli, Kim Ransom, Brad Galli, Greg Galli, Dave Galli and Kris McClusky; 10 great-grandchildren; nieces, Susan Malkovich, Laura Race, Marianne Winterteen and Cathy Ciucci; and one sister-in-law, Lucille Ciucci.
She was also preceded in death by her sister, Sophie Stefan Travelstead of Johnston City.
