Betty J. Smith

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Betty J. Smith, 43, of Old Shawneetown, died Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2011, as a result of an automobile accident.

Betty was born in Eldorado on May 8, 1967, to Eugene and Mary (Tarrence) Sharp. She was married to Dennis Smith, who preceded her in death in August 2010.

Betty had worked many years at Jones Farm Store in Shawneetown. She was a good mother, wife, daughter, grandmother and sister. She will be missed by the community.

Betty is survived by her son, Joshua Smith of Evansville, Ind.; daughter, Linda Smith of Old Shawneetown; her mother, Linda Hart of Old Shawneetown; her brother, Dewayne Sharp of Old Shawneetown; four grandchildren, Tarrence, Raven, Whyatt and Ocean; and her uncle, Bill Tarrence.

She was preceded in death by a son, Dennis Smith; and her stepdad, Bobby Hart.

Funeral for Betty will be 2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 29, 2011, at the Cox and Son Funeral Home in Shawneetown. The family will receive friends after 11 a.m. and interment will be in Callicott Cemetery east of Ridgway. The Rev. Bob Powell will officiate.
