Fred E. Harvey of Marion

Fred E. Harvey, 98, of Marion passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2025, at Eden Vista Senior Living in Hoffman Estates, Ill.

He was born on May 27, 1927, to Samuel and Elva Sloan Harvey in Huntingburg, Ind. On Jan. 31, 1953, he married Hazel Tripp and they were together for over 48 years until her passing in 2001.

Fred served proudly in the United States Army during World War II and Korea. Fred had retired from Hewlett Packard after over 30 years working in real estate development. Fred had been a member of Rotary International.

Survivors include his son, Michael (Arlene) Harvey of Hoffman Estates; two granddaughters, Kristen (Brian) Newby of Hoffman Estates and Jessica Dietrich of Palatine; two great-grandchildren, Bernadette and Michael; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Besides his wife and parents, he was also preceded in death by two brothers, Irvin (Kathryn) Harvey and Jim (Dorothy) Harvey.

Visitation for Fred E. Harvey was on Sunday, Dec. 14 from 3 to 6 p.m. at Crain Funeral Home Egyptian Chapel, 3208 S. Park Ave., Energy. A private burial took place at Anna City Cemetery in Anna.

The family requests with gratitude that memorial contributions be made to the local veteran’s funeral honors team. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
