4-H Rabbit Show held at Fairgrounds
The 2024 Saline County 4-H Rabbit Show was held on July 22 at the Saline County Fairgrounds, where 4-H members competed for Best of Breed and Best Opposite. Thanks to Davonne Long for judging this show, and to Brianna Johnson for announcing and recording scores. We would like to extend a special Thank You to new Rabbit Superintendent Jodie Vinyard and her assistant Kristy Murphy.
Adriana Vinyard earned Best of Breed for her New Zealand Intermediate Buck. Benjamin Vinyard received New Zealand Best Opposite with his Senior Doe. The Heavyweight Best of Breed and Best Opposite went to Makenzie Murphy with her Senior Buck and Senior Doe, respectively.
Benjamin Vinyard received Mini Rex Best of Breed with his Senior Buck, with Mckynlee Feazel earning Best Opposite with her Mini Rex Junior Doe. Raylan Murphy earned Lop Best of Breed and Best Opposite with her Junior Buck and Junior Doe, respectively.
The Overall Breeding Champion Rabbit was the Mini Rex owned by Benjamin Vinyard. Makenzie Murphy’s Heavyweight winner earned the Overall Breeding Reserve Champion. Each received a banner sponsored by the Saline County Farm Bureau.
We have added Showmanship Classes to our Rabbit Show this year. The Saline County Stockmen’s Association sponsored belt buckles for the Champion and Reserve Champion Rabbit Showman in each of the age groups.
The Senior Showmanship Grand Champion was Adriana Vinyard, with the Reserve Champion Showmanship Buckle going to Makenzie Murphy. Raylan Murphy earned the Junior Showmanship Grand Champion Belt Buckle, with the Reserve Champion Junior Showmanship honors going to Benjamin Vinyard.
