Prep Baseball: Hot start leads Eagles past Carrier Mills-Stonefort
A hot start by the Eagles propelled them to a 9-3 win over Carrier Mills-Stonefort Monday afternoon.
Eldorado (2-4) scored eight of their nine runs in the first three innings in the non-conference win.
The Eagles pounded out nine hits on the day as Parker Price and Canon Weatherly each had multiple hit days. Price was 2-for-3 with two runs scored and Weatherly was 2-for-2.
Chase Kittinger, Anderson Woolcott, Trevor Milligan, Jake Phelps and Eli Ralson all had one hit.
Kittinger had a team-high two RBI, while Woolcott and Phelps each drove in one run. Andrew Murray and Ralson each scored two runs for the Eagles, while Kittinger, Woolcott and Milligan all scored one run.
Carrier Mills-Stonefort was held to two hits as Easton Dalton and Caden VanMeter had one a piece.
VanMeter finished with a double and an RBI, while Riley Avery and Serigo Zertuche each drove in one run. Blain Betz, Kaleb Roski and Dalton all scored one run.
Price was one of five pitchers to see mound time for EHS Monday as the junior picked up the win. Price worked 3.1 innings, allowing one run on no hits, while striking out nine and walking three. Kittinger relieved Price and walked three, while giving up one run. Milligan then pitched 2.2 innings, allowing one run on one hit, while walking two and striking out one. Ryne Cox pitched one inning and allowing one hit, while striking out one, while Woolcott closed out the game.
Carrier Mills-Stonefort used three pitchers with Riley Avery getting the start and the loss. Avery went three innings allowing eight runs (one earned) on seven hits, while striking out two and walking one. Nathan Collins worked two innings and allowed one hit, while striking out two. Blain Betz pitched one inning, allowing one run on one hit, while walking one.
Eldorado's Black Diamond Conference opener against Edwards County was cancelled Tuesday due to weather. The game will be made up as part of a double header Thursday at 4 p.m. at the EHS Sports Complex.
