Prep Baseball: 'Dogs start season with pair of wins

Harrisburg rallied with a pair of runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to pick up a 2-1 victory over Vienna in the season opener Tuesday.

In the bottom of the seventh, with one out, Byant Lester and Drew Hawkins each drew a walk, which followed a single by Blake Stacey to load the bases.

Ethan Golish played the role of hero with a two-run RBI single as the Bulldogs picked up the walk-off win over Vienna.

Ross Rider had a second inning single, while Dawson Griffith had a single in the sixth inning. Riley King had a pair of walks.

Chance Moscaredelli got the start and went four innings, allowing one run on three hits, while striking out four and walking two before being relieved by Noah Arnold. Jackson Pittman got the win coming in after 6 1/3 innings, striking out four.

<b>Harrisburg 14, Carmi-White Co. 3</b>

Harrisburg hammered out 14 hits in a 14-3 win over Carmi-White County Wednesday in non-conference action.

Cameron Ande and Ethan Golish each had two hits and both scored two runs, while Golish added a pair of RBI and finished with two walks.

Jackson Pittman, Riley King, Braden Burtis, Reed Rider, Mark Miller, Jack Ford and Blake Stacey all had one hit, while Pittman led the Bulldogs with three runs scored.

Burtis scored two runs, while King, Miller, Stacey, Bryant Lester and Brendan Bergan each scored one run.

King had a team-high three RBI and Reed Rider drove in two runs. Dawson Griffith, Burtis, Miller, Lester and Stacey all finished with an RBI.

On the mound, the Bulldogs used three pitchers as Drew Hawkins got the start, working the first and giving up three runs (two earned) on one hit, while walking five and striking out one. Noah Arnold came on in relief and struck out four over three innings, while Ross Rider went one inning, striking out three.
