One of Saline county's biggest beef shows ever, held July 29

The 2021 Saline County 4-H Beef Show, held on July 29 at the Stafford Building, was one of our biggest Beef shows ever, with 34 youth exhibiting 78 animals and 29 youth competing in the Showmanship classes.

Senior Showmanship Grand Champion was Trevor Hale, with Haylee Brown receiving Senior Showmanship Reserve Champion.

Intermediate Showmanship Grand Champion was Tristen Hale. Gavin Horton received the Intermediate Showmanship Reserve Champion ribbon.

Junior Showmanship Grand Champion was Davis Evans, with Alan Pribble receiving Junior Showmanship Reserve Champion.

In the Breeding classes, Grand Champion Breeding Angus went to Haylee Brown and Reserve Champion Breeding Angus went to Davis Evans.

Haylee Brown received Grand Champion Breeding Hereford, and Reserve Champion Breeding Hereford honors went to Colin Huelsmann.

Kolten Oglesby showed both the Grand Champion Breeding Shorthorn and the Reserve Champion Breeding Shorthorn. Grand Champion Breeding Simmental went to Tristen Hale and Reserve Champion Breeding Simmental went to Trevor Hale.

Haylee Brown earned Grand Champion Breeding AOB, with Kolten Oglesby receiving the Reserve Champion ribbon in that class.

The Overall Breeding Beef Grand Champion was Tristen Hale with his Simmental Cow/Calf pair. The Overall Breeding Beef Reserve Champion was Haylee Brown with her AOB entry. Both received banners sponsored by Saline County Farm Bureau.

In the Market class, Colin Huelsmann received Grand Champion Market Steer and Kolten Oglesby earned Reserve Champion Market Steer. Both 4-H members received a banner for their Overall Grand Champion and Overall Reserve Champion Market Steers, respectively.

The Beef Bred and Owned classes were divided into Breeding and Market. The winner of the Market Beef Bred and Owned Champion plaque and monetary gift was Kolten Oglesby. Grayson Rann won the Reserve Champion Market Beef Bred and Owned plaque and monetary gift. Both the Champion and Reserve Champion Bred & Owned Market Beef prizes were sponsored by C&B Cattle Company, owned by Chris and Ben Evans.

Kolten Oglesby was the winner of the Breeding Beef Bred and Owned Champion plaque and monetary gift, sponsored by Anderson Crop Insurance, owned by Phil and Karen Anderson. Sierra Wilson won the Reserve Champion Breeding Beef Bred and Owned plaque and monetary gift, sponsored by Ron and Carla Bradley.

Congratulations to all of our Beef exhibitors, and thanks to judge Ashley Thomas, Superintendent Dan Evans, and to all who worked in the ring and behind the scenes to make the show run smoothly.
