Saline sheriff's office seizes car to be used for drug enforcement

HARRISBURG - The Saline County Sheriff's Office has acquired a new vehicle to be used for drug enforcement and patrol, as the result of a drug-related arrest.

On May 22, Sheriff's Deputy Justin McKinney conducted a traffic stop on a gray 2018 Dodge Charger Hellcat being driven by William M. Cummins, 32, of Eldorado.

According to a news release from Saline County State's Attorney Molly Wilson Kasiar, as a result of the traffic stop, Cummins was charged with unlawful possession of cannabis with intent to deliver, a Class 1 felony, and unlawful possession of cannabis 2,000 to 5,000 grams, a Class 2 felony.

The Dodge Charger Hellcat was seized by Sheriff James "Whipper" Johnson's office.

Wilson Kasiar moved to have the car forfeited pursuant to the Drug Asset Forfeiture Procedure Act. On June 8, the Saline County Circuit Court found probable cause that the vehicle was subject to forfeiture.

It was forfeited, and will by used by Johnson's office for drug enforcement and patrol.
