Shawnee Forest NSDAR creates veterans display in Shawneetown

SHAWNEETOWN - The members of Shawnee Forest NSDAR want to honor and remember the country's veterans, especially local service members.

The group recently constructed a veterans display memorial in the window of the Shawneetown library.

The display contains a variety of information.

That includes remembrance of the Paralyzed Veterans of America, women in the military, military working dogs, Illinois' special programs for veterans and other information.

Shawnee Forest DAR member Christy Short said they appreciate the library letting them have space to put up the display.

"We want to say thanks to our wonderful Shawneetown Library for allowing the Shawnee Forest Chapter NSDAR to create a window display for everyone to see," Short said. "It is a visual reminder of who we should be thanking for our freedoms."
