Marion VA selects local doctor to lead Primary Care Services

MARION - The Marion VA Health Care System is pleased to announce the selection of Dr. Clint Connor as the new Chief of Primary Care Services.

Connor will lead a team of 54 primary care providers who care for about 43,000 veterans spread across southern Illinois, southwestern Indiana and western Kentucky.

Connor is a Southern Illinois native who grew up in Zeigler and now resides in Herrin. He graduated from Southern Illinois University Carbondale in 1996 and completed medical school at the University of Illinois in 2000.

He is a board-certified provider in Family Practice with his residency at the University of Illinois Rockford Campus. Dr. Connor worked as a hospitalist at SIH seven years before coming to the VA where he served as a hospitalist and ER physician. He is married with three children. His hobbies focus on his children's activities, reading and yard work.

When asked about working at the VA, Dr. Connor replied, "I came to the VA to honor my veteran grandfather and uncle and to serve all the others who have sacrificed for our country."

Built in 1942, the Marion VA Health Care System is a 115-operating bed facility located at 2401 West Main Street in Marion, Illinois. The facility provides a full continuum of care in both inpatient and outpatient settings, with a VA complexity level rating of 2. The VA Health Care System provides care to about 43,000 Veterans annually in 27 counties in southern Illinois, eight counties in southwestern Indiana, and 17 counties in northwestern Kentucky. The facility operates 12 clinical sites of care located Marion, Harrisburg, Carbondale, Effingham, and Mount Vernon, Illinois; Paducah, Hanson, Owensboro, and Mayfield, Kentucky; as well as Vincennes and Evansville, Indiana. We are one of seven medical center facilities in the VA Heartland Network, a Veterans Integrated Service Network (VISN 15).
