Still life: As number of COVID-19 cases increase locally, life slows down even more
SALINE COUNTY - The number of people testing positive for COVID-19, as well as increased measures at local businesses to keep customers and staff safe, apparently had an affect on life in Saline County Monday.
Walmart stores now make customers use a single entrance and single exit, as does Rural King. At Walmart, five customers per 1,000 square feet of store space now are permitted, according to a news release from Walmart stores.
Business was slow enough Monday afternoon that at one point, no other shoppers could be seen at any checkout lines. In addition, Walmart employees are working to disinfect shopping carts once shoppers are finished with them.
Drive-through lines at local restaurants also were barely being used, although time of day may have played a role. This was observed after 2 p.m. and before 4 p.m.
Gas prices continue to remain low, with gas in Harrisburg reaching $1.149 per gallon at some stations.
