Will rock for food

An official with the Marion Food Pantry, an offshoot of the Marion Ministerial Alliance, is announcing an appearance this summer by the Marshall Tucker Band as a headliner for the annual "Will Rock For Food" benefit concert at the Marion Cultural and Civic Center.

Longtime Ministerial Alliance Executive Director J.R. Russell said that in addition to the popular southern rock band, famous for hits like "Heard It In A Love Song," Fire On The Mountain," "Can't You See" and "Take The Highway," the concert will feature local favorites The Jeff Pritchett Project and acoustic performer and top 10 finalist from NBC's "The Voice" Dave Fenley.

The Marshall Tucker Band hails from North Carolina where its unique blend of rock, rhythm and blues, jazz, country and gospel helped define what is universally known today as "southern rock."

The group has had seven gold hit singles, as well as three platinum albums during its storied career.

Tickets will go on sale for the concert beginning at 8 a.m. Friday, March 1 at the box office or online at marionccc.com. The performance is set for 7 p.m. on Friday, July 26.

This is the only "fundraiser" that the Ministerial Alliance hosts each year.
