Winter Wonderland coming to Rent One Park

The Southern Illinois Miners' Rent One Park will be transformed into a Winter Wonderland this December with fun activities for the whole family as the holiday season kicks into high gear in the weeks ahead.

The special event will take place on two weekends- Dec. 9th-11th, and Dec.16th-18th. The park will be open from 6-10 p.m. on the two Fridays (the 9th and 16th), 2-10 p.m. on the two Saturdays (the 10th and 17th), and 2-8 p.m. on the pair of Sundays (the 11th and 18th).

The holiday fun at Rent One Park will include ice skating on a synthetic rink set up on the field for $5 (including one hour of skating and skates rental, skating times limited), carriage rides for $3, and free pictures with Santa Claus.

Both Friday nights will include a Winter Fireworks show. Additional activities include: holiday crafts, live music, holiday movies, and snowball fights. Admission will be $5 per person on Fridays and Saturdays, and $3 for Sundays.

The first 500 fans through the gates on Friday, Dec. 9 will also receive a special giveaway item.

"Communities need fun places to gather and Rent One Park offers the opportunity for our organization to be a leader in creating wonderful, unique entertainment experiences for all our friends in the Southern Illinois region," Miners COO Mike Pinto said. "Last year was simply Phase One in our new fan experience approach. Our fans will be blown away with the newest things we have in store for them next season and Winter Wonderland will be the start."
