Helen Bernadine Guest
Helen Bernadine Guest was born February 2, 1926, to the late Jack and Melvina Stalions. On July 30th at 1:05 pm she left her earthly home to meet her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Her friends called her Bernadine, family called her Dean, and fellow co-workers called her Bernie. One wintery day in 1945, she met the love of her life, Ebert C. Guest. Five days after their chance meeting the two were joined in matrimony. She and Ebert (who preceded her in death 2005) had two children, Cress Tenna (Jess) Stanfill and Terry Lynn (Linda) Guest who survive. They were blessed with four grandchildren: Kimberly Stanfill (Bret) Cromer and their son, Hayden; Shannon (Lilia)Stanfill and their daughter, Samantha; Jeremy (Christine) Guest, and their children, Tristan and Trevi; and Jonathan (Rebecca) Guest and their children, Faith, Hope, and Ethan. Bernadine had 12 siblings who all preceded her in death.
Bernadine worked as an aide in the Pontiac General Hospital when her children were small and when the family returned to Harrisburg in 1966, she became the head cashier at Kresges on the square, which later became K-Mart, from which she retired.
Bernadine was a member of the Dorrisville Baptist Church.
In addition to her family, she leaves behind many friends and loving caretakers from the Carrier Mills Nursing Home.
Visitation and funeral services were held at the Reed Funeral Chapel in Harrisburg on Monday, August 1st. Visitation was from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM with funeral services at 1:00 with the family pastor, Dewayne Taylor officiating. Burial was in Sunset Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to the Carrier Mills Nursing Home ACTIVITY FUND.
