James R. Ferrell II
James R. Ferrell II, age 94 years, a resident of Vienna, Illinois, passed away Wednesday morning, May 25, 2016 at 4:10 AM at Southgate Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Metropolis, Illinois.
Jim was born January 14, 1922 in Harrisburg, Illinois. He was the son of Rev. William E. and Ollie (Banks) Ferrell.
Jim was united in marriage to Grace L. Kunath on May 24, 1947 in Harrisburg. She survives.
Other survivors include: his son- James R. Ferrell III of Chicago and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by: 5 brothers and 3 sisters.
Jim was a 1942 graduate of the Harrisburg Township High School.
Jim was an US Army Veteran and had served in Italy and Africa during World War II.
Jim had worked as an auto body repairman at Broadway Auto Body in South Chicago Heights, Illinois.
Jim & Grace always attended and worked in the local church in their place of residence. Locally they attended the Fellowship Baptist Church in Vienna.
Jim also enjoyed gospel music and quartet singing. He was an avid bowler, enjoyed fishing and cutting and polishing gem stones.
Jim & Grace loved traveling and camping together. They lived in a motorhome for 12 ½ and visited all 50 states and also the Canadian provinces.
Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon, May 27, 2016 at 2PM at the Fellowship Baptist Church in Vienna. Pastor Russ Kreuter and Pastor Tommy Gray will officiate.
An inurnment will be at a later date in the Skyline Memorial Park in Monee.
Visitation will be held from 1PM- 2PM Friday at the Fellowship Baptist Church in Vienna.
