Sr. M. Lorita Lawler, OSF
Sr. M. Lorita Lawler, OSF passed away May 9, 2016. She entered the Franciscan Sisters of the Sacred Heart in 1953, professing final vows in 1959.
Sister was an elementary teacher for 40 years, touching the hearts and lives of many children, first in the classroom and later as a faithful pen pal. Besides being an excellent seamstress, she showed her creativity through numerous crafts and projects. She exemplified a precious love, gentleness, peace and joy. Her faithfulness was sustained by a deep prayer life and a strong belief in the divine mercy of Jesus. Her devotion to Mary was evident in her praying of the rosary. On her 60th Jubilee (2013), Sister expressed gratitude to God for her religious vocation.
Sister is survived by her sisters, Sister Mary Gabriel (her twin), Sister Mary Rachel, Theresa (Cletus) Drone, Louise (the late Jack) Cook, Margaret (the late Robert) Fredrickson, her brother William (the late Allie Lee), her foster sister Kathleen (the late Wilburn) Holaday, and many other family members.
She is preceded in death by her parents Teresa (Drone) and Augustus Lawler and her sister, Sister Mary Alma.
Arrangements on May 12: Visitation 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. with Wake Service at 4:00 p.m. On May 13: Visitation 9:30 to 10:15 a.m.; Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. at St. Francis Woods, 9201 W. St. Francis Rd, Frankfort, IL.
Interment: St. John the Baptist Cemetery, Joliet, IL.
