Grover Wesley Wise

Grover Wesley Wise, 78, of Peoria, passed away at 11:54 am. Saturday, April 16, 2016, at Unity Point Health-Methodist Hospital.

He was born November 5, 1937, in Cottage Township near Harrisburg, IL, son of Laurence Earl Wise and Mary Lou- ise Barr. He married Mary Lou Maxine (Henson) Wise on April 30, 1967. Grover attended schools in Harrisburg and Eldorado.

Grover is survived by his wife of almost 49 years; two daughters, Michelle (Peter) Kiehl of Clearwater, FL; Ginger Wise (Todd Grethey) of Peoria, IL; Three grandchildren, Joel Sopher of Peoria, IL; Michael and Gabreilla Kiehl of Clearwater, FL; two brothers, Roger (Marcy) Wise of Westcliffe, CO and Earl (Fran) Barr of Ft. Collins, CO.

He was preceded in death by his parents and step-father Chester Barr.

Grover worked at Caterpillar for 35 years until retirement. He loved his grandchildren. He enjoyed breakfast most mornings with friends. Grover loved talking about politics.

He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Peoria, IL and former member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in East Peoria, IL. Grover served in the U.S. Army.

Funeral services will be at 10:30am Monday, April, 25, 2016, at Christ Lutheran Church in Peoria, IL. Visitation will be from 1-3 pm on Sunday, April 24, 2016 at Remmert Funeral Home, East Peoria, IL and one hour before services at the church.

Pastor Karl Eckhoff will officiate. Burial and military honors will be at Fondulac Township Cemetery in East Peoria, IL.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Christ Lutheran Church.
