Edith Evans, 94, Harrisburg

Edith Evans, age 94 of Harrisburg, passed away at 2:27 PM, Friday, February 12, 2016 at Heartland Regional Medical Center in Marion.

Edith was born on Friday, September 16, 1921, in Saline County, to the late William and Ora (Stricklin) Lorrison. Edith married Wayne Evans on December 26, 1938 and he preceded her in death on May 14, 2000. Edith was the last of the original people to move into Dorris Heights. She moved from town in the 8th grade. Edith was Social Brethren by faith.

Edith is survived by a son, Larry Evans and wife Letha of Galatia, daughter, Sharon Warren and husband Ted of Harrisburg; six grandchildren, Steve Evans and wife Debbie of Galatia; David Evans and wife Patty of Galatia; Renee Depriest and husband Chuck of Harrisburg; Laren Evans and wife Rachel of Galatia; Jay Warren and wife Veneta of Harrisburg; and Jeff Warren and wife Mary of Raleigh; sixteen great grandchildren, seven great-great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Edith was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne, parents, three brothers, and four sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 11 AM, Tuesday, February 16, 2016 at Reed Funeral Chapel in Harrisburg. Rev. Mark Finnie and Chuck Depriest will officiate. Burial will follow in Sunset Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 PM, Monday, February 15, 2016 at Reed Funeral Chapel in Harrisburg. Memorial contributions may be made to Grace Baptist Church and envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
