Chamber encouraging community wellness.
Now that the holiday season is over with and everyone has joined a gym as part of their New Year's resolution, the Saline County Chamber of Commerce is encouraging a communitywide health and wellness initiative that is launching across the county.
NBC and The Biggest Loser are launching the community challenge that will start this February. This Company vs. Company competition invites teams of four to join an eight-week, online health and wellness community challenge. The challenge is for companies of all sizes and people of all fitness levels.
"This challenge is for everyone," said Dolvett Quince, Biggest Loser Trainer. "No matter what your goals are you'll find something in it to help you achieve your next level of fitness."
Businesses are encouraged to register teams of employees to represent their company in the challenge. Teams of four sign up for the challenge and pay $100 to be eligible.
Past contestants of The Biggest Loser will guide teams through eight weekly challenges. Challengers also will receive weekly motivation and nutrition tips from Quince. Participants will earn points for each minute of activity they engage in, as well as additional points for completing weekly tasks and logging additional challenge activities designed to improve nutrition and overall wellness.
Each participant will have access to their own private wellness account and mobile app which is compatible with most FitBits and mobile wellness technology.
The app will aid in journalling challenge activities, access to weekly health guidance and keep their eye on friends and competitors on live leader boards.
For being a part of the community challenge, people are eligible for prizes each week, with more than 10,000 prizes to be won across the country, including trips to Los Angeles to see the finale of The Biggest Loser live.
