Bonds, fire and police lead board talk
The Carrier Mills Village Board has agreed to put a bond vote in front of the people.
Village officials voted on Tuesday to raise money for capital purposes. To do so requires a referendum with voters approving the sale of general obligation bonds. A special board meeting is set for Tuesday to discuss how to proceed.
The board also heard a report on a Carrier Mills Fire Department business meeting that included purchases for necessary equipment, such as spanner wrenches and 1,100 feet of 5 inch diameter firehose.
On the police front, a new officer will be sworn in on Thursday after the board approved the officer's hire at its last scheduled meeting.
"We are excited about the new addition to the police department," said Greg Prince, village trustee.
The board also opened two bids that were presented for the purchase of the retired squad car that is sitting in the parking lot of the Carrier Mills Fire Department.
Both bids that came in were for $1,500 seeing as the two bids were a tie, the board moved and approved the motion to hold a re-bid, allowing both additional bidders the opportunity to resubmit.
