GIRLS BASKETBALL: Whittington sisters' 48 points not enough for EHS

Sisters Brooke and Allie Whittington combined for 48 points and 11 three-pointers, but it wasn't enough for the Lady Falcons to avoid a 65-63 loss at home against Meridian on Monday night in Elkville.

Elverado led 18-10 after the first quarter, 35-31 at the half, and 49-47 after the third, but Meridian outscored EHS 18-14 in the final frame to steal the victory.

Brooke Whittington didn't have a two-point bucket on the night, but made 8 threes and 4 free throws to give her 28 points for Elverado. Allie Whittington finished with 20, Hannah Alstat had 9, and Hannah Porter, Emma Bigham and Brianna Tuthill each scored 2.

The Lady Falcons (2-10) are at home again on Thursday when they host Shawnee.
