IHSA releases postseason assignments

<span>The IHSA has released its postseason assignments for both girls and boys basketball on Thursday.</span>

<span>The top four seeds in each sub-sectional are sent to the regional sites, with the remaining teams determined by geography.</span>

Boys Basketball

<span>In Class 1A, Steeleville has been assigned to Sub-Sectional A of the 26-team Gallatin County Sectional, with Christopher and Crab Orchard (Marion) serving as regional hosts.</span>

<span>Other schools in the sub-sectional are Webber Township, Elverado, Galatia, Thompsonville, Norris City-Omaha-Enfield (NCOE), Sesser-Valier, Waltonville, Wayne City, Woodlawn and Zeigler-Royalton.</span>

<span>The winner of the Gallatin County Sectional goes to the SIU-Carbondale Super-Sectional.</span>

<span>In Class 2A, Chester, Red Bud and Sparta have all been assigned to the 21-team Pinckneyville Sectional as part of Sub-Sectional B.</span>

<span>Dupo and Sparta are the regional hosts. Other teams in the sub-sectional are Alton Marquette, Trico, Du Quoin, Pinckneyville, Roxana and East Alton-Wood River.</span>

<span>The winner of the Pinckneyville Sectional goes to the SIU-Carbondale Super-Sectional.</span>

<span>Seeding will be released by the IHSA by 4 p.m. on Thursday, February 11, 2016. Regional action starts the week of Feb. 22, with sectional finals taking place March 4.</span>

Girls Basketball

<span>In Class 1A, Steeleville will begin defense of its regional and sectional titles on its own floor as part of Sub-Sectional A of the 19-team Goreville Sectional.</span>

<span>Zeigler-Royalton is the other regional host. Other teams in the sub-sectional are Webber-Township, Christopher, Elverado, Galatia-Thompsonville, Gallatin County, Wayne City and Woodlawn.</span>

<span>The winner of the Goreville Sectional goes to the Salem Super-Sectional at the historic B.E. Gum Gym.</span>

<span>In Class 2A, Chester, Red Bud and Sparta are assigned to Sub-Sectional B of the 21-team Trico Sectional, with Sesser-Valier and Vienna as regional hosts.</span>

<span>Other teams in the sub-sectional are Anna-Jonesboro, Trico, Carterville, Du Quoin, Johnston City and Pinckneyville. The winner of the Trico Sectional goes to the Illinois College (Jacksonville) Super-Sectional.</span>
