Prep Hoops: Gutsy Effort
Isaiah Saulsberry scored a game-high 22 points, while Patrick Bittle put up 14 as Harrisburg improved to 4-2 on the season with a 55-40 win over Fairfield Tuesday night at Davenport Gymnasium.
The game was a rematch of last year's IHSA Class 2A Regional Championship where Fairfield knocked off the Bulldogs 68-61 dethroning Harrisburg who had a run of five straight regional titles.
Blake Drue netted nine points for Harrisburg, while Noah Ferrell finished with four points. Jordan Gould and Jordan Bartok each tacked on three in the win.
Harrisburg held a slim 25-24 lead at halftime and still only led by one, 33-32 after three.
The Bulldogs went 20-of-45 from the floor, shooting 44 percent, while knocking down 6-of-14 from beyond the arc. Harrisburg finished 9-of-14 from the foul stripe for 64 percent.
Fairfield went 16-of-38 from the field and 7-of-13 from 3-point range, while shooting 1-of-2 free throws.
Macklin Snyder, a junior, scored 14 for the Mules, while Sky Kollak put up 13 points for Fairfield. Brant McGill finished with five points, while Colton Land tossed in four.
Harrisburg returns to action Friday at home against West Frankfort in their first Southern Illinois River-to-River Ohio Division contest this season.
