Prep Hoops: Gallatin County flexing GEC muscle early

Seth Ramsey nailed two free throws with .9 seconds to play, helping lift Gallatin County to a 66-64 win over Crab Orchard Tuesday night.

It was the second straight win for the Hawks and the first in Greater Egyptian Conference play.

Ramsey had a game-high 26 points as two other Hawks finished in double figures in the win.

Audie Goebel poured in 21 points and Robbie Prince pumped in 16 the win.

Braden Brazier was the only other scorer for Gallatin County, finishing with three points.

Galatia 68, Pope County 41

Devyn Verbeck had a game-high 25 points for Galatia in a 68-41 Greater Egyptian Conference win over Thompsonville Tuesday night.

Luke Lawrence chipped in 17 points for the Bearcats (1-1), while Austin Stricklin added eight points.

Sean Mondino and Ethan Patterson each finished with five points, while Ben Mitchell tacked on three points. Austin Stevens and Will Pulliam both had two points.

Carrier Mills 49, Thompsonville 41

Brody Walker had 20 points and Dylan Schwartz had 15 as the Wildcats improved to 4-3 on the season. Jesse Darnell led Thompsonville with 12 and Jared Payne added 11 for the Tigers.

Gallatin County 78, Galatia 63

Seth Ramsey went over the 1,000 point mark with a game-high 39 points as Gallatin County picked up its first win of the season with a 78-63 win over Galatia.

Goebel and Prince also finished in double figures for the Hawks as Goebel tacked on 12, while Price tacked on 11.

Patrick Clark added eight points and 0Brandon Brazier and Trevor Duvall both had three points, while Aaron Walters had two points.

Lawrence had 21 points for Galatia, while Kody Matthews finished with 13, Verbeek tacked on 11 and Stricklin chipped in with 10 points.

Mondino finished with four points, while Patterson and Stevens both had two points.
