Prep Girls Hoops: Harrisburg, Eldorado win on road
Harrisburg put three players in double figures and rebounded in a big way, notching their first Southern Illinois River-to-River Ohio win over West Frankfort with a 63-58 victory Tuesday night at Max Morris Gymnasium.
Alexa Burtis had 18 points for the Bulldogs, who rebounded from Saturday's 72-59 loss to Eldorado as the senior went 6-of-14 from the floor and finished 5-for-10 at the free throw line.
Kelsey Hobbs wasn't far behind with 14 points on 5-of-15 shooting from the field and 3-of-4 from the stripe and Lilee Robinson had a career-high 13 points on 5-of-15 shooting from the field and 3-of-4 from the foul line as well.
Hannah Bartok chipped in with six points, while Matty Hawkins and Lotte Miller finished with five. Toni Crisp had two points for the Bulldogs.
Harrisburg shot 20-of-64 from the field and went 6-of-18 from 3-point range, while knocking down 17-of-31 foul shots.
The Bulldog defense held West Frankfort to 33 percent shooting as the Redbirds were 20-for-60 and knocked down 4-of-11 deep balls. At the line, West Frankfort finished 14-for-20.
Eldorado 52, Gallatin County 50
Jacqlyn Artman had her second straight double-double, while Abby Steed paced the Eldorado offense, helping the Eagles to a 52-50 win over Gallatin County Tuesday night.
Steed scoring 21 points on the night, while Artman added 16 points and 15 rebounds. She had 26 points and 21 rebounds last time out in Eldorado's win at Harrisburg.
Caitlyn Stafford scored seven points for the Eagles, while Brooklynn Peavler finished with four and Rachel Stafford tacked on two points. Madison Newton and Olivia Parker each had a free throw on the night.
Of the 50 points Gallatin County tallied on the night, 31 of them belonged to sophomore Hailey Chubb.
Harley Turner added right points, while Morgan Roderick finished with five. Valerie Athens had four and Makalyn Smith finished with two.
The win improves Eldorado to 4-2 on the season and will open up Black Diamond Conference play tonight (Thursday) against Carmi-White County at Duff-Kingston Gymnasium.
