Lions food basket project:The need is great
The Du Quoin Lions Club Christmas applications are now available.
Approximately 125 Du Quoin, Tamaroa, Dowell and Elkville families are served.
They may be picked up at the Du Quoin Fire Department or the Du Quoin Farm Fresh on South Washington Street.
They must be signed by someone other than the person requesting the basket. Business stamps will not be accepted as a signature.
The last day to turn in an application is Friday, Dec. 11 at 5:00 p.m. After this time applications will not be accepted.
Baskets will be delivered Sunday December 20 beginning at noon. Volunteers will assemble the baskets at Porter's Fare Foods north of Du Quoin at approximately 10 a.m.
The person receiving the basket must be home for the basket to be delivered. Baskets will not be left with a neighbor or on a porch.
Anyone wishing to make a cash donation to this year's Christmas Basket Program can make out a check to the Du Quoin Lions Club and mail it to Lion Bruce Summers 115 South Washington Street Du Quoin, IL 62832. Anyone wishing to donate can goods for the project may leave them on the front porch at 115 South Washington Street or call Lion Bruce Summers at 534-7226 to have them picked up
This year's Krazy Cop event will be held December 11.
