Prep Hoops: Hawks go 0-5 at Grayville, Ramsey named to All-Tournament Team
It wasn't the foot that Gallatin County High School was hoping to get off on, but head coach Doug Miller said that despite the 0-5 start at the Grayville Tournament, his team is getting better.
The one bright spot for the Hawks in the early going has been the hot-hand shooting of Gallatin County junior guard Seth Ramsey, who through four games, has put up double figure scoring in each one.
In the opener of the tournament, Gallatin County lost to Cisne 50-61, that was followed by a 55-44 loss to Oblong. On Wednesday, Gallatin County fell to Norris City-Omaha-Enfield 63-40 and lost to Grayville Friday night 74-70. On the final day, Gallatin County lost to 67-40 to Edwards County
Cisne 61, Gallatin County 50
In the loss to Cisne, Seth Ramsey had a co-game-high 24 points, while eight other Hawks found the scoring column.
Audie Goebel scored seven points and Brody Watts chipped in with six points. Robbie Prince and Lucas Reeder each tacked on three points, while Patrick Clark, Logan Lane and Braden Brazier each had two points. Hunter Walters added in a free throw.
Oblong 55, Gallatin County 44
In the loss to Oblong, Ramsey led the Hawks with 24 points, knocking down three 3-pointers and finishing 5-of-7 from the foul line.
Clark added eight points for the Hawks, while Robbie Prince chipped in with seven points and Goebel finished with four points. Rubio tossed in a free throw.
NCOE 63, Gallatin County 40
Against NCOE, Ramsey accounted for 22 of the Hawks' 44 points, while Prince added eight points. Goeble and Walters each finished with four points and Lane tacked on two points.
Grayville 74, Gallatin County 70
Ramsey had his biggest tournament game to date, scoring a season-high 36 points with 12 field goals, while going 12-for-16 from the foul line. Prince also finished in double figures with 18 points, while Goebel added eight points and Clark scored six.
Edwards County 67, Gallatin County 40
Ramsey scored 17 points in a losing effort, while Goebel finished with seven points. Brandon Rhodes and Brazier each finished with four points, while Price tacked on three points. Clark and Lane each had two points while Bryon Wargel had a free throw.
Ramsey made the All-Tournament Team of the Grayville Tournament as the lone representative from Gallatin County.
