Woman found dead in Hardees
The death of a 29-year-old Vergennes woman remains under investigation by the Du Quoin Police Department and the office of Perry County coroner Paul Searby, Du Quoin police say.
The body of a 29-year-old Kaileigh Ralph was found in the restroom of the Hardees on South Washington Street at 4:48 a.m. Saturday morning, police say.
The investigation is in its early stages and police have not said whether the woman was there at the restaurant's opening or she had been there all night.
The restaurant is routinely ready to open at 5 a.m., according to employees.
She is said to have been found dead in the bathroom.
Investigators have reviewed the restaurant's video surveillance recording and do not believe Kaileigh died as a result of foul play.
"At this time it is apparent that there is no criminal foul play involved and video surveillance from the store confirms that," Du Quoin Police said in a news release Saturday afternoon.
There is some indication that the toxicology report may shed some light on what happened.
The Hardees Restaurant was dark for approximately two hours as police and the coroner's office went about their work.
They want to review the toxicology report as the investigation into Ralph's death continues. Those results can take weeks.
