St. John Lutheran finishes fifth at tournament
St. John Lutheran's "A" boys team went 3-1 and took home fifth place in the Good Shepherd Lutheran-Collinsville Tournament last weekend.
The Hornets' lone loss came to Messiah-Weldon Springs (Mo.), 40-33. St. John then defeated Grace Chapel (St. Louis, Mo.), 38-33, and host Good Shepherd-Collinsville, 48-24.
St. John's other victory came Friday night against Trinity-Springfield, a 46-17 win.
Andrew Schwarting was the Hornets' leading scorer in three of the four contests, scoring a tournament-best 22 points against Good Shepherd. Schwarting had 19 points against Messiah-Weldon Springs and 14 against Grace Chapel.
Ethen Eggemeyer poured in 15 points, while Ian Reith added 10, to help St. John defeat Trinity-Springfield.
St. John is off until Nov. 30, when the Hornets travel to face Steeleville.
