FOOTBALL: Indians claim 10 spots on All-SIRR Mississippi team, Panthers earn 9
Nineteen of the 56 spots on the 2015 Southern Illinois River-to-River Conference Mississippi Division Football All-Conference team belong to either Du Quoin Indians or Pinckneyville Panthers, with 6 Indians earning First-Team nods along with 3 Panthers, two of which earned a pair of First-Team spots.
The Du Quoin-Elverado co-op's selections on the First Team include running back Zayne Fornear, center Alec Valerius, offensive lineman Ryne O'Rourke, defensive end Devin Jones, linebacker Bryce Clarry, and defensive back Brock Bullar.
Bullar also received a Second Team selection at the wide receiver position. Other Indians on the Second Team are offensive lineman Cullen Higgins, defensive lineman Charlie Gaines and linebacker Chandler Stevenson.
For the Panthers, the First Team includes a pair of double selections - Nick Cannon at offensive and defensive lineman, and Dylan Carns at kicker and punter. Running back Alex Howard was also named to the First Team.
PCHS's Second Team selections were Caulden Lazenby at both running back and defensive back, Sam Simpson at defensive end, and Dalton Peradotto at linebacker.
The rest of the Mississippi Division's First Team included Sparta's Drew Kordys (QB), Gabe Yearian (WR), Tyler Markley (OL), Will Monroe (DL), Will Price (LB), Alyze Nesbit (DB) and Ethan Gwinn (DEF-at large); Anna-Jonesboro's Alec Gold (RB), Collin Prather (OFF-at large, DB) and Trenton Turner (LB); Nashville's Hunter Schultze (RB) and Royce Newman (TE, DE); and Carterville's Austin Swalls (WR), Derrick Mann (OL, DL) and Justin Parson-Nally (LB).
